Vietnam war era denim souvenir jacket

Seemingly unworn

Some very collectible patches that have high value on their own

Jacket brand: Sedgefield

Break down on some of the patches:

“Fighting I” / USS Intrepid CVS-11 — these two go together and are among the most recognized naval patches from the era. The USS Intrepid, nicknamed “The Fighting I,” was an Essex-class carrier that participated in the Vietnam War and served as a recovery ship for Mercury and Gemini space missions — that dual military/space history makes it especially collectible.

Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club — never official or sanctioned, it became one of the most enduring pieces of naval folklore from the Vietnam War, representing the shared dark humor of sailors operating under pressure in contested waters. Originals from 1966 are listed as rare on eBay.

“G. DIV Animals” / CVA-67 patch — the left patch referencing “going to heaven because I spent my time in hell” is a highly personal unit humor patch, very desirable to collectors.

“Ordnance Baby” — quirky, aviation ordnance crew humor, sought after.

Front/Sleeves:

• NAS Memphis — Naval Air Technical Training Command, tied to the back patch

• NAS Oceana — major East Coast fighter base, solid collector interest

• Quonset Point, R.I. — NAS Quonset Point was a large Navy base, now closed, making patches from closed bases more desirable

• Carrier Attack Group 4 — unit-specific, harder to find

• Sergeant chevrons — add visual and military authenticity
